Follow this link to access the "original" NBG Eagle forum - now in a "read-only" status to preserve the images and information that our members have worked so hard to compile.

Use this thread to post comments concerning the activities we observe on the Live Eagle Cam as well as screen captures and videos. A New Topic will be started each day with that day's date ex: Friday, Mar. 20, 2009. All activities for that day will be posted under that topic. We'll try to keep observations easier to access by separating into daily segments.

The public can now be a part of the annual survey of bald eagle nest sites in Virginia. The Center for Conservation Biology has launched a new website that allows the public to locate on a Google map all the known bald eagle nests in Virginia.

On May 20, 2009, CCB Researchers placed a satellite transmitter on the Norfolk female nestling banded HH, now named Azalea. The NBG eagle will be the first from the lower Chesapeake Bay and the Hampton Roads region, and will provide answers to the most frequently asked question, "Where do the eagles go after they leave their nest?"

The Live Eagle Cam is the collaborative effort of three organizations. The VDGIF provide the camera and their biologists monitor the Norfolk Eagles. Norfolk Botanical Garden staff maintain and operate the camera, and WVEC provide the feed that we watch.

Click the above link to access the VDGIF site. Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries or VDGIF provided the eagle camera and VDGIF biologists monitor the Norfolk eagles and provide information on the VDGIF blog site.

Click on the above link to access the WVEC site. WVEC provides the feed and acces to the Live Eagle Cam, Newstories, slideshows, and a link to the WVEC chat room.
