"I thought some of you would appreciate the view from the NATO tower at the Norfolk Botanical Garden. Relevant landmarks have been marked."
* this image is the 2008 nesting site, in 2009 the eagles returned to the original nest (or "old" on the image) and the cam position and exclusion zone have also been changed. The camera is now located in the tree to the immediate left of the "Old" nest tree

Wow, thanks for the pictures. It's always difficult to imagine what the area looks like from a camera some 90 feet in the air but when you see it from this perspective I was amazed how close in proximity the nests really are. It looks like the area is cordoned off?? So how do we see people in the camera shots at times?

Barricades are put up every nesting season to create an exclusion zone around the nest. We were told even Garden staff are limited to the amount of time they can work within that area. The people you see walking are outside that area. The camera angle gives the illusion they're actually closer.

Picture taken Monday Feb. 22, 2010 of the current nest and cam location. Taken from NATO Tower. The arrow on the left indictes cam location, center arrow is the "love branch", and arrow at right is the nest.

From NBG Main Parking to "the point" for view of eagle's nest.

Thanks! Since I'm nowhere near the Gardens, I really appreciate it.
