Creating slideshows in PE7 is quite easy! It's easy to learn and easy to do. So have confidence!

The resulting file after all is said and done can be either a .wmv file or a .pdf file. The most visually desirable format would be Windows Media Player's native format of .wmv. The other choice is .pdf. This tutorial will output to .wmv.

  • Open the PE7 Editor only (to avoid bugs) :
    ("C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 7.0\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe")
  • Notice the three tabs on the right of the screen that say "Edit", "Create", and "Share". Click the "Create" tab.

  • You will then see the choice of creating a slide show. Click on that.

  • Next screen will be the Slide Show Preferences box. Once you've tweaked it to your liking, click OK. These can always be changed later by following the dropdown menu in the Slide Show Editor and clicking "Edit", then "Slide Show Preferences".

Once the "Slide Show Preferences" box is closed, you will find yourself in the Slide Show Editor.

Here you can:
  • Add blank slides.
  • Add media (still images for new slides).
  • Change transitions (time and type).
  • Experiment the timings for each slide.
  • Explore captions and text.

Now you can save your project. I save my projects. But the one problem I found as a result of my moving files around, is that the media is missing from the project! But if you do not move things around after creating a project, then by all means, save the project.

Of course you want to output your slideshow to a useable file by clicking "Output" (see previous screenshot). The screen below comes up. By default it will save as a file, and save in the .wmv format. The slide size of 320x240 pixels is more than adequate for s'caps from the Eagle Cam.

The resulting .wmv file will have black lines on the top and bottom of the video and not on the left and right when running locally on your computer using Windows Media Player. It does look better, however, once you upload the file to Photobucket where all four sides will have black around it.

That's it in a nutshell folks. :)

Thanks Featherfun...never even thought about using Photoshop Elements for creating a slide show. This is great
