Whew...what a busy weekend! Finally getting a few of the pics from yesterday's event at Mason Neck State Park online, here's my take on the day:

"OMG what a monster we have created!!!" - Ed Clark of the Wildlife Center of Virginia as he surveys the growing crowd...
Image

Eagle #1 - Male
Image

Image

Eagle #2 - Female - My best launch sequence of the day...
Image

Image

Image

Image

Eagle #3 - Female...the ornery one stares Ed down...
Image

Ed holds the bird while his brother removes the foam "bumpers" from the birds wrist...
Image

What happens to a bird after it tries to remove Ed's nose....just kidding! No...really it did try to amputate his nose, kidding that this is some sort of retaliation. Seriously...

Thank you so much for posting video. I was unable to attend the event, so I appreciate it so much. :D Really wonderful to see these tree eagles fly free!

Photos like these are what happens when Ed designates you as "official"....you get choice spot ;)

It doesn't hurt to be talented either......love your shots Henry.

You did get some good shots! I'm glad you finally found that spot not occupied by crowds already

Oh Shelly - fantastic shots. You captured the last release's displeasure at the perfect time. And the flight with wings elevated is wonderful. Thank you so much for sharing. Glad you got such a great spot!!

You really captured the day. Fantastic captures of both the eagle and human variety. Thanks so much for sharing your talent.

As usual, you came through with the videos to share with all. Thanks so much for sharing. Love your banding shot! Both eagle and Ed's emotions came through.

Thanks all for you comments. It was one of those days where there were WAY too many people & I just planted myself down at the end of the line & wasn't moving for anyone!!! Next time I'll have to get an "official photographer's pass" or something from Randy! But I think we photographers did the best we could with the crowd that was there. And what a HOT day - those poor eaglets looked like they were cranky!!
