Does anyone know what time the transmitter placement is scheduled for tomorrow?

Thanks

Dana

I got an "official" word that they are going to bring the eagle down - also the cam MAY be able to capture the event if they can get it to continue to zoom in & out.

This week in addition to fitting a satellite transmitter to the NBG eaglet, Azalea, biologist from CCB also placed satellite transmitters on 5 Whinbrel on the upper Eastern Shore of Virginia and are also being tracked on wildlifetracking.org- animals - birds - Whinbrel. They are expect to take off for the Arctic next week. Last year a Whimbrel with a CCB satellite transmitter surprised everyone by flying all the way to Alaska. Tune in to see where these 5 fly to.

Whimbrel fans,

I’m pleased to20report all 5 whimbrel have left Virginia for their summering grounds. The last bird left yesterday and is in New York (Elki’s map won’t update until tomorrow morning).

4 of the 5 whimbrel are from the eastern James Bay breeding population. One bird, Fowler, is following in Winnie’s flight line and appears to be on her way to the Pacific breeding grounds.

You can follow their movements here http://www.wildlifetracking.org/index.s ... ect_id=369

That is fantastic news. This is a real break through in terms of our understanding of whimbrel migration ecology and also in terms of the use of satellite transmitter technology. I do not believe there is another group in the world that could have pulled off 5 for 5 with this cutting edge technology.

Great work.

I think you will find this of interest. Note that the 4 Whimbrel who have made it to James Bay so far all took a different flight path to get there.
